Pembroke House, also known as St Christopher’s Church, Walworth, has had a comprehensive building project completed – the first work done to it since the 1970s. This involved a fresh approach to all entrances, including full access for disabled users. Heritage Lottery and Local Authority monetary support was granted through a carefully executed funding bid, alongside fruitful discussions with the client and other user groups, to successfully coordinate the project.

As seen in the image above, the bricked up main archway to the chancel was cleared, and the paint to the brickwork was stripped back, giving a clean, united space. The new sculpture of Christ was crafted to the client’s requirements. The completed redesign has achieved the complex aim of the brief to allow the building to be usable by recreational, youth, and music groups, as well as ecclesiastical users, and educational projects.
