Caring for historic buildings: ensuring their continued use, open for all.
Hanslip & Company Ltd is an RIBA Chartered Practice, here to help with every aspect of historic buildings: condition surveys, repairs, alterations, re-ordering schemes, new build, heritage consultancy and advice, reports, co-ordinating other consultants and trades, compiling and assisting in grant schemes, and any issues that arise from using a historic and community hub.
Hanslip & Co was formed as HMDW Architects in 2007 through the merger of Russell Hanslip Associates and CMA Architects. Both practices were founded in the early 1980s and have built up similar expertise in working with church and community clients on projects for new buildings, extensions and alterations to existing buildings, and repair and restoration of Listed buildings. Projects range in value up to £6 million, and are located throughout London and the South East of England.
Much experience has been gained in most areas of conservation and restoration of Grade 2, 2* and 1 Listed Buildings, the oldest of which dates from 1086, the Chichester Office itself. Conservation knowledge has been gained partly through specialised courses and partly by extensive experience. Members of the practice are on the AABC (Architects Accredited in Building Conservation) Register and RIBA Conservation Register.
The Quinquennial Inspection
All Church of England churches (and many other denominations) must be inspected every five years. We see this as a vital part of our work. We produce concise reports, that are easy to understand – identifying and describing the severity of building defects. The report can be used easily as a starting point for repairs: we will be on-hand throughout the process to assist further.
